FLAMEN&CO


Here you are a sumarize of my CLIL unit about Flamenco Music. It is prepared to be thought to 2º ESO

 1. Learning outcomes / Evaluation criteria

  • To know the origin and history of Flamenco Music To meet the most important artists of Flamenco Music
  •  To distinguise the different rhythyms and styles of Flamenco Music 
 2. Subject Content

  • The most important artits of Flamenco Music
  •  Rhythms of Flamenco claping 
 3. Language Content / Communication:

  •  Nouns: beat, accent, stress, singer, guitar player, dancer, clap
  •  Verbs: perform, dance, clap 
  • Adjectives: fast, slow, brilliant, high, low 
  • Prepositions: on, through, by
  •  Comparatives and superlatives
  •  Language skills: Reading, writing, speaking, listening
 4. Contextual (cultural) element:  This unit is thought to be taught at the beginning of the first term in order to prepare the celebration of the Flamenco Day (10th of November)

 6.Activities

  • Introduction to Flamenco Music: a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIK4ovPSiCQ + teacher explanation about flamenco rhytms. The students will learn to clap binary, ternary, mixed rhytms. 
  •  Flamenco artists: a prezzi presentation in pairs with 10 slides at leats about 3 famous flamenco singer, guitar player, flamenco dancer 
  •  A performance of the famouse flamenco tangos "En lo alto del Cerro" (The music sheet will be given to them). The students will be divided in three groups: ten students playing the music sheet with the recorder, another ten students clapping the rhythm, the last ten students singing the lyrics. These instructions will be given to them during the preforming: You should play it faster/slower/higher/lower 
 7. Methodology

    • Introduction to Flamenco Music: a video + teacher explanation about flamenco rhytms (55 minutes x 2)

8.1. Criteria:

  •  LISTENING Student can understand when someone talks about flamenco music Student can understand their partner's answers when they ask him/her questions about music
  •  READING Student can read text about flamenco artists and extract the main ideas to prepare a slide presentation
  •  SPEAKING Student can describe a flamenco style based on its main characteristics Student can ask questions about flamenco music 
  •  WRITING Student can write a slide about a flamenco artist biography
  •  VOCABULARY Student recognize words and expressions related to flamenco music. Student know the name of the instruments played in flamenco music
